I am a big fan of the New York Times Well columnist Tara Parker-Pope, who writes regular columns newsletter which I have subscribed. In her year end Dec 24 issue, she summarized the “Favorite Well Stories of 2020”. I am reproducing a few portion from the newsletter below:
As you might expect, the Well team spent most of 2020 writing about the coronavirus. As lockdowns began around the country, we asked Well readers for their most pressing questions, and the result was our department’s most popular story of the year: Is the Virus On My Clothes? My Shoes? My Hair? My Newspaper? Several stories about masks, including how not to wear one, were some of our most popular features this year, as were stories about coping with Covid-19 and understanding the symptoms.

The five of your favorite Well stories of the year were not about the virus but the following:
- The Benefits of Intermittent Fasting: Jane Brody was skeptical, but it turns out there is something to be said for a daily fast, preferably one lasting at least 16 hours.
- In 6 Minutes, You Can Be Done With Your Workout: Our three short workout videos will get your heart pumping and give you a full-body workout without a trip to the gym.
- Make 2020 the Year of Less Sugar: Our 7-day sugar challenge taught readers how to eat less sugar.
- A Dentist Sees More Cracked Teeth. What’s Going On? Dentists are staying busy, dealing with tooth fractures, possibly related to tooth grinding, sleep issues and pandemic stress.
- Can I Boost My Immune System? Online searches about immune health surged this year, so I explored the science of immune health.
It’s always a pleasure to read her column and I have greatly benefited from her suggestions. During the past year I was able incorporate some of her suggestions in my daily activity routine.
