A Brilliant Quote from Jackson Kiddard

|

I hadn’t heard of Jackson Kiddard until this morning, as Don Jonson mentioned in his 2022 Medium post. I came across this quote on Matt’s blog and thought it was brilliant. Since Matt didn’t provide a source, I had to look it up and found that it was from Jackson Kiddard.

  • Anything that annoys you is for teaching you patience.
  • Anyone who abandons you is for teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet.
  • Anything that angers you is for teaching you forgiveness and compassion.
  • Anything that has power over you is for teaching you how to take your power back.
  • Anything you hate is for teaching you unconditional love.
  • Anything you fear is for teaching you courage to overcome your fear.
  • Anything you can’t control is for teaching you how to let go and trust the Universe”
– Jackson Kiddard in Goodreads (vis ma.tt blog)

According to Don Jonson, Kiddard was a 19th-century French philosopher and yogi who traveled to India. However, his life remains elusive, with no available biographical information.

Here’s another quote from Kiddard, as adopted from Jonson’s post:

Patience child, patience. Remember, life is a journey.

If you got everything you wanted all at once there’d be no point to living. Enjoy the ride, and in the end you’ll see these “setbacks” as giant leaps forward, only you couldn’t see the bigger picture in the moment.

Remain calm, all is within reach; all you have to do is show up every day, stay true to the path and you will surely find the treasure you seek.

Jonson notes that he found wisdom in Kiddard’s message about life being a journey, not a destination, emphasizing the importance of patience and enjoying the ride.

Brilliant stuff, indeed!
