Minnesota and most of the nations is undergoing, what CNN calls it a Once in a generation winter storm this week. The weather here in Twin Cities is foretasted to be severely sub-zero temp for several days before the annual Christmas holiday, mainly due to brutal arctic air from the North.
“A major winter storm and cold blast will impact nearly every state and bring what the National Weather Service is calling a “once in a generation type event” that will cripple travel on some of the busiest travel days of the year”, writes CNN.
CNN adds “The strengthening storm will bring more than a foot of snow and possible blizzard conditions to the Midwest, as the weather service warns of “life-threatening” wind chills for millions”.
According to MPR News “Winter storm warnings went into effect Wednesday across much of southern, central and northeast Minnesota. In many of those same places, blizzard and wind chill warnings will go into effect on Thursday. The National Weather Service said 5 to 8 inches of snow is expected by late Wednesday in a swath from Mankato and New Ulm north and east to the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and Duluth.”
