Breakthrough Infection only Less than 1%

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) only less than 1% of the fully vaccinated with Covid-19 have had breakthrough infection and hospitalization. Referring to health experts from across the country, CNN Health writes that Covid-19 vaccines are very effective at preventing serious illness and death from Covid-19 and are the country’s best shot at slowing the pandemic down and avoiding further suffering.

Based on CNN analysis, as of July there were less than 0.004% breakthrough infection in US and less than 0.001% fully vaccinated people died from breakthrough Covid-19 case.

To date, no unexpected patterns have been identified in the case demographics or vaccine characteristics among people with reported vaccine breakthrough infections.

Referring to the Kaiser Family Foundation analysis of official state data, CNN Health writes “About half of states report data on Covid-19 breakthrough cases, and in each of those states, less than 1% of fully vaccinated people had a breakthrough infection, ranging from 0.01% in Connecticut to 0.9% in Oklahoma. More than 90% of cases — and more than 95% of hospitalizations and deaths — have been among unvaccinated people. In most states, more than 98% of cases were among the unvaccinated.”

Vaccination Rate Increased Recently

Amid skyrocketing Delta variant cases and increased hospitalization around the country, the CDC is reported that “the seven-day average of administered doses is now 662,529 per day, the highest average since July 7.”

Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) told CNN that in the last two weeks there was 56% increase in vaccination rate in the US.

This may be a tipping point for those who have been hesitant to say, ‘OK, it’s time‘. I hope that’s what’s happening. That’s what desperately needs to happen if we’re going to get this Delta variant put back in its place.

Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director for the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital, told CNN “We will see this big, steep acceleration. As bad as things are right now in the South, they are about to get worse for lots of unvaccinated individuals.”
