Covid Vaccine and Heart Attack

According to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, Covid-19 vaccine helps heart attacks among Covid-19 patients.

Referring findings of the Minneapolis-led research showed that “none of the vaccinated patients died in the hospitals, though, which is significant when considering that 22% of the unvaccinated patients died,” writes the Star Tribune.

Fatal heart attacks linked to COVID-19 declined in hospitals over the past two years, and vaccines played a key role.

Dr. Santiago Garcia, the lead Minneapolis researcher, who presented the findings recently at a scientific session of the American College of Cardiology in Washington, D.C, said “The ones that aren’t vaccinated, they still have the nasty chest X-rays, they’re short of breath, and that makes the management of the heart attack more complex”.

In another related news, Reuters writes referring a large study that “Risk of new heart problems much higher after COVID recovery. Long after recovery from COVID-19, people face significantly higher risks for new heart problems”.

“An average of one year after their recovery from the acute phase of the infection, the COVID-19 survivors had a 63% higher risk for heart attack, a 69% higher risk for problematic irregular heart rhythm, a 52% higher risk of stroke, a 72% higher risk of heart failure, and a nearly three times higher risk of a potentially fatal blood clot in the lungs compared with the other two groups,” according to recently published article in Nature Medicine.

Ziyad Al-Aly of the VA St. Louis Health Care System and Washington University in St. Louis, told Reuters “The risks were high even in people who had mild COVID-19 and did not need to be hospitalized for it. It really spared no one. People with COVID-19 should pay attention to their health and seek medical care if they experience symptoms like chest pain, chest pressure, palpitation, swelling in the legs, etc.”
