First 2023 Snowfall

|

Today, those of us living in the Twin Cities saw the first appearance of snow this season. There had already been an accumulating snow in the far northern corner of the state since last Friday.

When most Twin Cities residents went to bed Monday night, it looked like fall, but they’re waking up to a winter wonderland Tuesday. A round of overnight snow left a fresh coating on the metro, just in time for Halloween. Lingering snow showers should taper off by 7 a.m.

The weather forecast for the rest of the week is anticipated to be a steady warm-up. Because the ground is still warm enough, today’s snow is expected to be gone by the evening. Most of us, including those participating in Halloween trick-or-treating, should bundle up appropriately for evening walks or any outdoor activities today.

The general Twin Cities area should see snowfalls in the 1 to maybe 2-inch range, with more sticking to highway overpasses then the main roadways. Roadways have not been treated since last winter, so anything snow covered will be slippery.
