Increased COVID-19 Cases in Minnesota

Day 188: Stay Safe Minnesota

Recent COVID-19 reporting suggests increased in confirmed virus cases mostly fueled by the community events.

A recent MPR News writes that confirmed COVID-19 cases are increasing in the state in recent days, partly due to higher number of testing, 26,000 tests per day. “State health officials on Sunday reported the third straight day with more than 1,000 new cases — the first time that’s happened in Minnesota during the ongoing pandemic. Saturday’s report saw a record 1,478 newly confirmed cases”.

MN Infectious Disease Director Kris Ehresmann recently told to the reporters that current spread is driven by community events.

Spread is being driven largely now by weddings, funerals and informal get-togethers among friends and families who are not staying vigilant against the disease.

According to the MPR News report, state health officials are emphasizing to the public that the pandemic is far from over and everyone should follow the health safety guidelines to stay healthy and help control the virus spread.

While daily death counts have eased since the spring, the virus is still dangerous. COVID did not magically go away or get to be a better virus over the last few months.

State officials are encouraging all ‘Minnesotans to wear masks in indoor public spaces, socially distance, wash their hands and generally stay out of crowds to curb the disease’s community spread’.
