Marie Kondo – Japanese Decluttering Diva is Recent Sensation in US


The Japanese tidying expert Marie Kondo is known in US since 2014 when her The New York Times best seller book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up was published. In 2015, The New Yorker magazine ran a piece titled The Origin Story of Marie Kondo’s Decluttering Empire reporting how Americans were inspired from her decluttering philosophy to discard extra stuffs. She was featured in The New York Times Magazine July 2016 issue.

Since Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo began early January 2019, it became instant hit-show inspiring millions of Americans to declutter their closets, laundry rooms and garages resulting in uptick donations in thrift stores nationwide.
