Minneapolis Became ‘Swiftieapolis’ Today

More than 60,000 of megastar Taylor Swift’s Minnesota fans, who are popularly called “Swifties”, are reportedly invading Minneapolis on Friday, June 23-24, for her Eras Tour concert at the US Stadium.

Star Tribune reports that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey decided to issue an unofficial proclamation to rename Minneapolis to “Swiftieapolis” for Friday to honor the singer and her fans.

The name of Minnesota’s largest city isn’t officially changing, and its fleeting life as Swiftieapolis isn’t being hallowed in any sort of executive order or mayoral proclamation.

On Saturday, however, Frey is expected to formally proclaim Taylor Swift Day in Minneapolis.

Saturday, June 24 Mayor Frey is reported to formally proclaim Taylor Swift Day in Minneapolis. Mayor Frey said:

  • We are embarking on what will be one of the most exciting weekends we have in the city of Minneapolis.
