Morning Walk

|

,

For about a week or so, I have been doing my working 3 Miles walks, after our treadmill Rollerblade becomes out of order. As someone who has plantar fasciitis, this was not my choice of morning activities. For more than a year or so, I had been building up my stamina and activity routines on our treadmill, this was obviously very disappointing. I am especially mindful that if I don’t practice my routines, I would eventually lose it what I have already achieved and have to start from ground zero again.

When I am burning almost the same amount of calories in my morning (fast) walks, I am also gaining extra benefits from these walks – my exploration of my own neighborhood.

Exploring Neighborhood

Though we are living in this neighborhood for almost 25-years, I released that I was not aware of hidden beauties in my own backyard. Because, we have a busy life, we drive to and from work, seldom take time to walk and observe our own surroundings.

These morning walks provided me an opportunity to view beautiful buildings hidden behind trees, peoples’ choices to maintain their front / backyard gardens, and even how these houses are decorated. I was especially surprised to learn and observe several very large apartment buildings which I had never noticed while driving the road almost thousands of times.

A big take way from these walks, in addition to health benefits and maintaining healthy habit, we should find time to slow walk our neighborhood and learn and appreciate the beauties that often get only from our long trips.
