In my previous short post, I indicated that I am a news junky and liked to be a well informed citizen. As much as possible, I try to stay away from politics and don’t want to offer my own political views as well. I consider myself a fierce independent. However, this 2020 presidential election season is taking all the oxygen from the air unseen in previous elections.
Because the current political atmosphere is so polluted ‘polarized ad’ one can hardly escape from our TV screens. News media appear to amplify this divide by using languages similar to entertainment sports like smack-down wrestling, foot ball and others as examples commonly used terms such as “hit back”, fire back, etc.
The blue and red partisan divide could not be greater. The divisions we see today are embedded in our complicated history, some so woven into our culture and political institutions that we struggle to even imagine their resolution. But the norm in American life is not stasis — it’s change.

The partisanship and disinformation reached the highest level during the past four years. ‘Dishonesty has defined the Trump Presidency‘ writes Peter Baker of the New York Times. In my opinion though, all the politicians are dishonest & crooked!
This all makes me close everything and head to the quit forest away from the media. But a news junky, this is short lived wish only.
When we find our way through today’s crises — which will certainly not end on Election Day, nor when the calendar changes over to 2021 — I hope we will discover on the other side new alliances and a clearer vision of who we are and who we want to be.

Though only three-days left until the election day, I am just waiting to get it over and return to more normalcy, less partisanship, more civility and less name calling!
