According to Star Tribune, though new cases of Covid infections are reportedly decreasing in some Southern states, cases are increasing in northern states like Minnesota.

“Twenty-four states have seen at least a 5% increase in cases over the past two weeks, led by New Hampshire with a 63% increase, Vermont with 50%, New Mexico with 48%, Minnesota with 42% and Nebraska with 37%. The aggregate national caseload, having eased for two months, begin ticking up after hitting a low of about 69,000 new cases a day in late October. On Tuesday that average topped 75,000.”

Minnesota health officials are reportedly hoping that ‘the new pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations and booster doses in adults this fall will reduce pandemic numbers that have defied predictions and worsened over the past week’.

The state’s positivity rate of recent COVID-19 diagnostic testing increased to 9.3%, the highest rate since Dec. 10, indicating that the coronavirus remains widespread.
