Using ChatGPT Without an Account

ChatGPT has been my digital assistance for a while for drafting blog posts, summarizing, rewriting / paraphrasing contents. To use the App, you needed an active account. However, I noticed yesterday that I didn’t need to sign up for its use.

On Monday, OpenAI said in a blog post “Starting today, you can use ChatGPT instantly, without needing to sign-up. We’re rolling this out gradually, with the aim to make AI accessible to anyone curious about its capabilities.”

According to the Verge, this only applies to ChatGPT, as other OpenAI products, like DALL-E 3, cost money to access and will still require an account for access.

It’s core to our mission to make tools like ChatGPT broadly available so that people can experience the benefits of AI. More than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT weekly to learn something new, find creative inspiration, and get answers to their questions.

“There are many benefits to creating an account including the ability to save and review your chat history, share chats, and unlock additional features like voice conversations and custom instructions. For anyone that has been curious about AI’s potential but didn’t want to go through the steps to set-up an account, start using ChatGPT today,” OpenAI said in a blog post

According to Forbes, demands for generative artificial intelligence has accelerated demand for AI-centric data centers that can handle more advanced tasks than traditional data centers. Microsoft and OpenAI are said to be working together on a $100 billion Stargate U.S. Data Center to meet the users’ skyrocketing demand.
